आज से करीब 30 साल पहले की बात हैं जब सीमान्ती जन मानस प्रमुख रूप से गड्वाल के लोग बहुत कम तादाद में दिल्ली में निवास करते थें! लेकिन अनुभव कहता है कि उस समय के लोगों का दिल बहुत बड़ा था! जोभी विद्यार्थी (छात्र) या नौजवान नौकरी के लिए दिल्ली आते थे, हमारे भोटिया जनजाति के लोगों का घर उनकी सहायता के लिए हमेशा खुला रहता था और आपको महसूस भी नही होने देते थे कि किन परिस्थितियों में समायोजन करते थे! आज परिस्थिति अलग है, हो सकता हैं समय के अनुसार लोगों का सोचने की अंदाज अलग हो गया हैं!

Life is not easy throughout the year in Niti Mana valleys of Himalayas at India –Tibet border. However, the community is always active in different activities be it religious, cultural or sports. During summer, when the snow melts down and the life is easy to live in the valleys, cricket tournament is organized at Buraas (near Malari Village). Around 10 villages participate in the tournament at the last cricket ground of India.

As villages along the international border in Uttarakhand face out-migration on an unprecedented scale, uninhabited areas lie open to territorial claims by the Chinese. Niti is among the last Indian villages, just 26 km from the China border, 3,600 metres above sea level. Years ago, it was a thriving village of about 250 families. Now, only 35 remain.

Dronagiri village of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is located at a height of 14000 foot. The village is still angry with Lord Hanuman and do not worship him. The situation is now that red flags, symbol of Hanuman, in this village are prohibited.
