Like every year, this year also, the Independence Day (August 15, 2012) was celebrated in traditional manner at Dumphu Dhar. Villagers of Bampa, Farkiya, Gamshali, Kailashpur and other nearby villages assembled at Dumphu Dhar after worship of god/goddess and march past from their respective villages with patriotic songs and slogans.

Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. R. B. S. Rawat was the chief guest for flag hoisting. After flag hosting and national anthem, sweets were distributed and trees were planted. The former MLA Mr. Kedar Singh Fonia, officials from ITBP and other social workers were present at this auspicious event.

  
 
The Dumphu Dhar (a gathering spot, on the way from Bampa to Gamshali) is always memorized by the local people for celebration of Independence Day. In the older days, all nearby villages (Niti, Gamshali, Bampa, Malari, Kailashpur and Farkiya) used to assemble at Dumphu Dhar. Every village use to assemble here and participate in all events performed here in their traditional dresses.

Members of Army, ITPB, Echo Task force ( ex-army for plantation) and Uttrakhand forest also participated in the celeberation. All programs, during this event, were held by the help of forest and NTPC.
